"This is a high-quality instrument in a nice leather sleeve, and it does the job quite well. I only use it to clean my 3-year-old son's filthy fingernails from his daily time playing in the dirt, but I can attest to how well it works for that (I'm a nailbiter myself, so I don't actually have adult nails to try this thing out on). He never complains that I'm poking him or doing it too hard or anything, so it seems to be pretty gentle in spite of how well it cleans.
